Environmental Benefits
Rubber waste is a grave environmental threat. Globally, over one billion tires reach their end of life each year and are dumped in already overflowing stockpiles and illegal landfills. These tires are not biodegradable, are dangerously combustible and wreak havoc on the environment. Driven by environmental concerns, developed countries are passing stricter legislation for rubber waste. Under the European Landfill Directive, burying whole tires in landfills will be forbidden by 2003. There is no doubt that an economically feasible, environmentally friendly solution for scrap rubber is needed.

Levgum's devulcanization process, with its exceptionally high recovery rate, is the sustainable economic model for the problem of rubber waste. Unlike today's widely used recycling technologies - incineration and crumb rubber - Levgum's technology allows for the use of a much higher percentage of recycled rubber in tires (up to 30%) and in rubber products (up to 100%). At the same time, Levgum's clean, efficient production of high quality recycled rubber means there are no waste by-products. As no dangerous chemicals are used, and there are no hazardous emissions, the process is non-toxic and completely safe for the environment. Levgum's process is redefining the value of recycled rubber while helping to heal our earth. It is leading the rubber industry in producing unprecedented economic and environmental returns.
